Yes, that's me in the picture. I'm grumpy because my parents are hysterical with laughter since I'm now a cowboy and demand to be called Hank.

The values I set for the work wearenotmachines does are also my own: quality, efficacy, elegance and intelligence. Computers are tools; their purpose is to assist us, to enhance our lives and to free us from the mundane, the unecessarily complex, the tedious and the banal.

The purpose of any information system should be to enlighten the user - computers give us powerful tools to analyse, clarify and visualise but I believe we must be human-focussed at all times.

wearenotmachines began in 2010 but had its genesis in 1983 when I first played Horace Goes Skiing on a ZX Spectrum+. BASIC programming became an obsession; I moved on through Commodore64 to writing music on Commodore Amiga in the demoscene of the early 90s with the legendary Oedipus - our remixed homage to Dr Who is still out there......

A brief stint as a composer of avant garde art music took me to the Royal College of Music before I found myself back coding again, gaining an MSc with Distinction in Information Systems Development.
